THE PROJECT
Project:
stillwater
One of our earliest projects, Stillwater laid the foundation for much of the design language that continues to inform our work today: warm, minimal, tactile, and inviting. Drawing from Scandinavian influences and West Marin’s natural palette, the space brings together an eclectic mix of locally sourced woods, textures, and simple materials to create a sense of ease and comfort.
Custom plaster walls, copper backsplashes, and handblown wall lights with copper detailing layer alongside a variety of woods—cypress, elm, redwood, cedar, cottonwood, and Douglas fir—each adding its own quiet character. The custom waterfall tables, made from cottonwood slabs salvaged from fallen trees in West Marin, remain a favorite element, grounding the space with both beauty and story.
Working within a modest budget, every material choice was intentional, balancing refinement with restraint and highlighting the natural variation of each surface.
